In this World...But Not of this World?

Topic: Citizens of the Kingdom
Have you heard the saying, "You are so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good?" There is some truth to this statement.

When traveling, two questions people normally asked me are:

(1) Where are you from?
(2) Where do you live?

My normal response is tell them the specific city and state where I am from, or give them a street address including the city and state where I live. From a natural viewpoint, my answers are correct. But let's take this discussion a step further.

Let's look at the same scenario from the spiritual viewpoint too. As children of the Most High King, we have a right to declare that our citizenship is not of this world. Yes, we are in the world but we are not of the world. We are citizens in the Kingdom of God.

Think with me for a moment. We fill out various applications and forms. One question on the form(s) concerns our citizenship. Again, from a natural standpoint, I fill in U.S.(United States). Can you imagine how startled the reviewer would be if I wrote "Kingdom of God" or "Heaven?" Most people would be startled if I gave these answers, both believers and unbelievers alike because it's not the norm.

As believers, we are not the NORM. We are ambassadors and members of the royal priest hood. Even while sojourning here on planet earth, we are citizens of the Kingdom of God. Are you wondering where is the Kingdom of God? As believers, the kingdom of God is within us...it's in our heart...(Luke 17:20-21).

Remember, the next time someone ask you, "Where are you from?", tell them "the Kingdom of God." If the person is a unbeliever, your witness may spark and ignite a flame in his/her heart. After hearing your testimony, perhaps they will want to become citizens in the Kingdom of God too.
