My new computer came yesterday after being held up at the FED EX facility in Maryland for over a week due to the recent blizzard of 2010. I posted this comment on my facebook page, "Finally, I've moved into the 21st Century." My old computer was quite tempermental; it worked on it's own time clock, and stop on a dime when it wanted to. So, now I am in computer heaven, a little hyperbole...yes. This whole incident reminded me of how we tightly hold on to old things. Rather than moving forward and grasping the new things God has for us, we are stuck in a rut, squeezing out every ounce of life or juice that is left in the old things. What old thing(s) are you holding on to that have lost thier usefulness? Is it a relationship, a habit, old thinking, or like myself your old computer? What I've found out is that holding on to old things creates tremendous efforts and are time wasters. When we refuse to let go of people and things, frustrations and anger results. So how do we let go? Let's start with your mind. Scripture teaches, "We have the mind of Christ." Our thoughts ...old thinking...keep us from letting go. If you think you can't, my friend, you can't. As a man thinks in his heart, so is he. I heard one tele-evangelist encouraging people to fast from wrong thinking. I want all the things God has prepared for me. They are already mine. But if I cannot let go of the old....He will not release the new. Today, I let go and let God.
